When farmers are in the middle of field work, a photo or audio text can be the easiest way to record field conditions and observations.

The Farmobile Notes app, built for smartphone and mobile devices, lets farmers document on-the-go observations via photo, text or audio.

Available for Apple and Android devices, the Notes app lets Farmobile PUC subscribers capture details that complement PUC- collected agronomic and machine data. All entries are geotagged, permanently attached to Electronic Field Records (EFR) and are visible from the Farmobile Dashboard.

This app is a simple but vital value-added benefit for PUC-users, according to Jeff Pio, Farmobile director of customer support. “The images, audio or text messages captured via the Notes app is tied directly to the EFRs — that’s an important differentiator.”

How Farmers Are Using Notes

The Notes app is being used in a variety of ways with growers, says Jeff Pio, director of customer support. “Farmers use the photos portion of the Notes app to collect and record product mixed during spray season.”

Others are using geo-tagged notes to mark areas within a field that may be hazardous to equipment or need additional attention by operators. They’re also able to document public utilities, weather conditions and seed variety changes.

“Synced with the EFR, the Notes app is a great tool farmers can use to generate a more complete picture of what’s happening out in the field,” says Pio.
